Welcome to Newington

Newington is located in southeastern New Hampshire with a population of approximately 755. It is bounded to the west by the Great Bay, northwest by Little Bay and northeast by the Piscataqua River. It is home to Pease Development Authority, Great Bay National Refuge and the New Hampshire National Guard. The 110-acre Old Town Center Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Newington’s commercial district is the epicenter of New Hampshire's third largest retail market, as it has strategic proximity to the Spaulding Highway which connects the cities of Rochester, Dover, Somersworth, and Portsmouth. Easy access to Maine and Massachusetts is also assured by proximity to Interstate 95.

Newington is served by the Boston & Maine Railroad, and a commercial airport at Pease.

Although Newington is widely noted for its vibrant commercial and industrial sectors and low tax rate; less well known is the care with which the townspeople have preserved historic landmarks, architecture, and archeological sites.
