Newington Summer Recreation Camp Cancelled Due to Covid-19 Emergency

The Newington Recreation Committee has learned that the NH Granite YMCA will not be able to run the Newington Recreation Summer Camp Program this year.  The Granite Y has made this difficult decision to cancel their specialty and off site camps statewide to focus resources and staff on the camps they believe they can more easily manage. 

There are many challenges the Y is facing from a guideline and safety stand point this summer.  After the Governor’s announcement on Friday and reviewing the new guidelines the Y believes, from a risk management standpoint, they would not be able to safely comply with all that they need to do to keep campers and staff safe – especially for their off site locations like Newington.

The Seacoast Y in Portsmouth (431-2334) is hoping to potentially run a small summer camp at the branch.  Please feel free to call the Y for more information or check back on the town website.  As soon as we have more news about this potential camp we will post it there.
