Charles Smart is the Newington Building Inspector. The Building Inspector's duties include the review of building permit applications, the inspection of building sites, and the issuance of:
Fees for applying for the above referenced permits are set by the Board of Selectmen. All building alterations or new construction that cost $100 or more requires an appropriate permit to be obtained in advance. All proposed work must adhere to the following codes and ordinances: Plumbing inspections are conducted by the Plumbing Inspector. Call (436-7640) or email the Town Hall to request an inspection. Electrical
inspections are conducted by Narto Maldini (pictured below right). Call
436-7640 Within Newington's non-residential zoning districts, new construction, the expansion of a building's footprint, or a new type of land use requires Planning Board approval prior to the issuance of a Building Permit. Town Planner Tom Morgan (603-436-1252 or via email) can provide additional details on that process. The erection or alteration of signs requires a Sign Permit to be issued in advance. The Selectman (603-436-7640 or via email) can provide additional details on that process. All proposed restaurants and food vendors must obtain approval from Health Officer Charlie Smart (603-436-7640, or via email) prior to serving food to the public. Building activity within 250 feet of the bay or the Piscataqua River is regulated by New Hampshire's Shoreland Protection Law.
